HAPPY BIRTHDAY SBS!

We finished the school term with a bang as we closed our school’s birthday party with cake and a fabulous firework display.  A BIG thank you to all the pupils, teachers, parents, ex-pupils and ex-teachers who came together to celebrate our school’s 40th birthday on 22nd March 2013.

The guests had a great time enjoying their paella lunch followed by tapas, cakes and drinks served by our own pupils.  Gangnam ‘SBS’ style played in the dining room where ex-pupils looked for themselves in photos taken over the decades whilst music from the 70s, 80, 90, and 00s played outside as guests chatted amongst themselves.

The highlight of the day was when we all took to the stage to perform some of our best dancing, acting and magic skills to the huge audience which had gathered.  Modern and classic music from Beyoncé, Rolf Harris and The Beatles plus the traditional fairy tale, Snow White and a magic show all acted out to perfection.

Special thanks go to some of our ‘outside’ help including Pascalle from Streetwise, Jo from Dramakidz, and the fabulous Paella makers, Frank and Cherry Atkinson.  We would also like to thank Super Sue, for organising THE WHOLE EVENT, Fernando for a fantastic job carving the jamon, Donna and Lauren for running the bar, and Menno and Dimitry for setting up an excellent sound system and providing music and technical assistance throughout the day.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the patience and dedication of our terrific team of teachers and the wonderful pupil who attend SBS.  So a BIG THANK YOU to everyone and we look forward to celebrating our 50th Anniversary together in 2023!

How EGGciting!!!!

The Upper Secondary class treated the pupils at Sierra Bernia School with and EGGcellent assembly about Easter last week.  Each pupil gave a presentation about how they celebrate Easter in their native countries including traditional games and food. Their assemblytever finished with a fabulous Easter Bonnet Competition in which both teachers and pupils participated.  The competition was fierce, with children preparing unique creations in class and at home but Mrs Cousins ensured that all those who participated were rewarded with mini chocolate eggs – Yummy!!!
The pupils at
SBS would like to wish everyone a very Happy International Easter, wherever you!
